Pros - The OLED is a revolutionary technology that could represent the future for mobile displays.

Cons - Aside from the OLED and music player, the features are fairly ordinary.

Also Consider - Nokia’s 5610 XpressMusic device may not have an OLED display but it has a cracking music player.

Killer Application - OLED display - The U9’s OLED display on the outer fascia is technological wizardry.

Verdict - An attractive looking Motorola phone that stands out because of it’s clever OLED external display. Find this model cheap at Debenhams mobile phones.

Poppin Panda - Glu Mobile

We’ve never seen pandas hurling colours balls around but perhaps we’ve been visiting the wrong zoos. Anyway, that’s the theme for Poppin’ Panda, a game that is heavily influenced by the game Zuma in its animalistic ball-throwing fun.

So, you’re firing balls at a line of balls, aiming to get three of the same colour together to make them disappear. Except mastering the game is about triggering combos and earning power-ups to help you with explosions, aiming lines and backwards times. It’s easy to play and has some original touches too, like bouncing balls off walls and sending them down chutes. A good mobile puzzle game.

Puzzle Quest - THQ Wireless

There are plenty of mobile games that get you to swap coloured gems around to make them disappear, but Puzzle Quest splices this gameplay with something else entirely: a role-playing game! You’re a hero who has to travel the land fighting monsters but you fight them with your gem-swapping skills.

It’s an intriguing idea and one that quickly reveals itself as truly addictive. As you beat monsters, you earn experience and money which in turn improve your characters skills. You also learn new spells which you can trigger during battles to give you an advantage. A truly excellent game that you won’t be able to put down.

Pros - The design is incredible attractive.

Cons - Typing texts is a little loner with the touch-screen.

Also Consider - If you’re prepared to wait, the Apple iPhone boasts a similar design but has a far superior feature set and advanced proximity settings.

Killer Application - Touch-screen - The first real touch-screen phone to dump the stylus, leaving you to navigate the user interface with your fingers.

Verdict - Won the award for Best Fashion Phone at the Mobile Choice Awards 2007. Need we say more?
