BlackBerry Curve 8320
Pros - This is the smallest BlackBerry Curve yet and the device feels great in the hand. Added Wi-Fi is another bonus.
Cons - There’s no 3G and the two-megapixel camera is timid by today’s standards.
Also Consider - The BlackBerry Pearl 8120 is still the smallest BlackBerry so far, so if you want all the functions of BlackBerry only in a smaller device then this is the one for you.
Killer Application - Wi-Fi - Whereas the 8820 supported Wi-Fi for data only, the 8320 supports Wi-Fi for both data and voice.
Verdict - Email and Wi-Fi enabled, the 8320 should leave no customer disappointed.
Bang & Olufsen Serenata
Pros - with Band & Olufsen providing the necessary technology, the sound quality is simply wonderful.
Cons - The click-wheel, while useful for scrolling through content, makes text messaging and e-mailing frustrating.
Also Consider - The Sony Ericsson W880i is another phenomenal music phone only for a fraction of the price and size.
Killer Application - Music Player - With 4GB of memory and Bang and Olufsen’s audio technology, the Serenata’s music experience is second to none.
Verdict - The good far outweighs the bad with this device but it’s difficult to see it really taking off.
Alcatel IT-V770 Mobile Phone
Alcatel IT-V770 Mobile Phone
Pros - With its mirrored keyboard ans skim chassis, this is one handsome prepay handset.
Cons - For a handset with such a capable music player, it’s a shame that no 3.5mm jack port is included.
Also Consider - The Sagem my511X is another uber-slim prepay handset. With its eloquent design and jet-black finish, this is one stylish mobile phone.
Killer Application - Design - The V770’s USP is its alluring slimline chassis.
Verdict - To call this handset entry-level almost feels an injustice. It has cracking looks and what features it does have measure up to the task in hand. A great effort from Alcatel.
Levi’s Launches Red Tab Mobile
Jeans giant Levi’s has launched a new limited-edition Red Tab handset which comes with a neat design and a hefty price tag.
Costing £400, the new Red Tab phone offers a relatively standard feature set which includes an MP3 player, stereo Bluetooth, a hands free kit and a two-megapixel camera.
But it does arrive in a fancy box and it’s an attractive-looking fashion phone.
However, the price tag is no doubt bumped up by the fact that there are only 100 Red Tab phones currently available. So if you’ve got that kind of cash to spare, you’d better get in quick.
