T-Mobile is offering an incentive to mobile phone prepay customers to top-up with £10 during the week by giving them a credit reward to spend at the weekend.

With T-Mobile’s new Top Up and Stretch offer, prepay customers who top-up by £10 between Monday and Friday will get an extra £10 to spend on calls, texts and picture messages over the weekend.

T-Mobile says the top-ups can be made up of smaller amounts adding up to £10, as long as they take place between Monday and Friday.

Top Up and Stretch complements T-Mobile’s existing Top Up Friday offer which gives prepay users who top-up on a Friday unlimited weekend texts.

Unfortunately, the offers can not be used in conjunction with each other.

Brace yourself, the 2010-2025MHz and 2500-2690MHz bands are up for sale.

In case you’re scratching your head at this point, this is the spectrum (or network) that will be used by mobile operators for all mobile broadband and Wi-Fi services in the future, as well as WiMAX and the evolution of 3G technology.

Ofcom will set up the auction this summer and it promises to be the biggest sale of its kind.

The winners will be able to utilise the secured spectrum for themselves or, alternatively, trade their license for their portion of the spectrum with other companies.

Philip Rutnam, Ofcom’s partner in charge of spectrum policy, said ‘The release of the 2.6GHz radio spectrum will create opportunities for fresh innovation, new services and competition for the benefit of consumers in the UK’.

The Worlds Lightest Mobile

The Modu has officially been named the world’s lightest mobile phone, it’s smaller than a credit card and weighs only 40.1g.

The Guinness World Records declared the Modu, which measures a mere 72.1 x 37.6 x 7.8mm, a record-breaker.

The handset can be slipped into a variety of Modu jackets or phone enclosures which then transform it into a sat nav device, for example, or even a phone with a QWERTY keypad.

Although the Modu was unveiled in February, it won’t be on sale until October and will be available in Italy, Russia and Israel for around 500 euros (including two Modu jackets).

Those in the UK who are aching to get their fingertips on this tiny device will have to wait until 2009.
