Samsung Slider F400 Review

October 20, 2008 · Filed Under Mobile Phone Reviews · Comment

If your handset simply has to offer you top-notch music quality then Samsung have pulled out all the stops to impress with their F400 slider. This attractive handset boasts a superb Bang & Olufsen music player and speaker set and is likely to be the envy of the competition.

So how does it look?

Underneath the 2.2” screen are four silver hard keys and a circular wheel turn which acts as the navigation key. As the keypad is hidden thanks to the side function the handset looks incredibly sleek when closed.

As you would expect there is a dedicated music button on the side of the phone, which sits along side the dedicated camera button.

What about the music?

By sliding the Bang & Olufsen speaker out from the handset the user is immediately directed to the 3 music options; music player, FM radio and video player. When the music is directed through the external speaker the sound quality is truly excellent and is enhanced by the various acoustic settings, which are often nothing but a gimmick in other handsets.

The F400 can also be used with the users own headphones thanks to the introduction of a 3.5mm port, although there is also a separate port, which is used with the factory supplied Samsung headphones. The advantage of this is that 2 people can listen through headphones at the same time.

Music can be categorised into different genres, artists, albums, play lists and podcasts and where available the album graphic can be displayed. Plenty of content can be stored thanks to the 1GB internal memory.

In addition to the music there is also a 3MP camera, which is sufficient but could be better, and it feels as though this phone is rather geared towards the music and not the photos.
Web users will be pleased with the speedy downloads thanks to the HSDPA, which is a must for a phone of this class.

So, the final verdict on this handset is that it is a must music-wise and thanks to the partnership of Bang & Olufsen the user is treated to a cracking sound experience. The camera could be better but overall this is a stylish and competent phone that should not be overlooked.

To offer their support for breast Cancer Awareness Month Samsung have launched their popular U800 in pink.

For every handset purchased Samsung will donate £10 to the Breakthrough Breast Cancer charity.

Samsung is an active supporter of this particular cause and in 2007 raised over £500,000 for breast cancer charities throughout Europe and this started a four year plan by the manufacturer to support the cause.

The Samsung U800 Pink has the same features as the original, including a 3MP camera complete with LED flash, HSDPA internet speeds and an MP3 player with a 3.5mm stereo earphone jack.

To allow the user to store content the device has a built in memory to store up to 1GB. If this is not enough the handset features a microSD slot for an additional memory card.

The Pink U800 can only be purchased exclusively from phones4u.
