If you are looking for the “next big thing” in the world of mobile phones then is surely must be an Android phone. A development on from 3G and backed by Google, Android phones have got everyone talking.

T-Mobile is currently offering the G1 handset on the Android platform, and it is available free when signing up for a contract price plan. So how does this handset perform?

It is a sleek and stylish handset, and in keeping with the Smartphones of today it is of course touch screen. The screen literally pops up to reveal a QWERTY keyboard (without which, any kind of text entry would prove impossible). The handset is packed with plenty of Google applications and has an Apple-like application store. It has an adequate 3.15MP camera with auto-focus.

This quirky handset performs well, but until it is developed further, users may chose to wait for the G2.
