Napster and O2 Launch Download Service
O2 has teamed up with digital music provider Napster to give customers access to a huge library of songs through its O2 Active portal.
O2 customers can choose from over five million tracks, from contemporary to more obscure tastes. For an initial three-month period, single tracks will cost 99p and five tracks can be bought for £4.
As well as being automatically downloaded to the user’s handset, tracks are also sent to an e-mail address of their choice so it is available on their PC.
The service will initially be available on 30 different handsets with more to follow. Compatible handsets must have a built-in music player and mobile internet connection.
Customers will also receive full descriptions of the artist as well as imagery to both their phone and PC. Brad Duea, president of Napster said ‘We’re extremely excited to be working with O2 UK on the launch of Napster Mobile’.
