Review of Nokia E51 – The Perfect “Uncomplicated” Business Phone
If you use your phone regularly, especially for business, but are put of by the technology of the i-Phone and other modern smart phones then consider the Nokia E51.
The E51 is a simple to use, powerful Nokia and offers a welcome break from the complications of touch screen phones and QWERTY keyboards.
This phone is not pretending to be the next great camera phone or music player, but as a business phone it is a powerful handset.
A well set of dedicated buttons give you quick access to frequently used tasks such as email. The phone book is huge – capable of storing 1000 names and numbers. Connectivity to the web is enhanced thanks to built in Wi-Fi, HSDPA and EDGE. There is GPRS built in and the 2MP camera is handy for taking quick snaps.
Make no mistake; this is a cracking handset without the gimmicks capable of delivering superb results.
Currently only available through T-Mobile.
Nokia 6210 Navigator - Helping You Find Your Way…
Don’t be fooled into thinking this review is about an old, old Nokia from back in the year 2000.
Yes, the 6210 was an incredibly popular phone, especially with the business user.
However, Nokia (who are not averse to recycling model numbers) have now launched the 6210 Navigator. A handset far removed from the 6210. The 6210 Navigator is a sliding handset, with full colour screen and built in GPS.
Available in glossy red or black the handset sits comfortably in your hand and the design and quality of finish are eye catching.
Using Nokia Maps application the users receives 6 months free GPS navigation, so unlike stand-alone sat nav systems you have to face an ongoing cost. However, the upside is convenience, and downloading maps in the future will be free so no upgrading charge.
The overhead maps are decent enough, and appear well on the large screen. There is a handy compass which works particularly well in pedestrian mode.
The camera is a decent 3.2MP with LED flash and VGA resolution video capture.
There is built in FM radio and other multi media functions, thanks to the fact it is another Nokia which uses Symbian operating system Series 60.
If you like surfing the net or using your handset to email you will not be disappointed as the phone supports HSDPA speeds up to 3.6Mbps. As an S60 phone you can push email, run business applications and add excellent games.
All in all the new 6210 Navigator is more than a GPS phone. It has a wealth of features and is sure to prove a popular purchase in the coming months.
One to consider!
Nokia Sports Tracker – Ideal for Fitness Fans
If you are a keen fitness fan and enjoy tracking your progress then Nokia have the perfect application for you.
Compatible with GPS enabled handsets running on the Series 60 platform Nokia Sports Tracker features different workout settings, such as running, cycling and skiing. Each sport has different features to suit that particular activity.
The handset then tracks your progress via GPS. This means that your friends and family could even track your progress in real time via the website!
More importantly, the application calculates a series of statistics, such as time versus speed. You can then upload your data to the Nokia Sports tracker website and monitor your progress and improvements. You can even share your progress with other sports enthusiasts.
Helpfully, the application will run in the background while you operate any other functions, i.e. making calls, texts etc meaning your workout session is tracked in its entirety.
Searching for a Bargain?
Searching for a Good Quality, Everyday Phone?
There are a whole range of mobile phones on the market now, offering a wealth of talent, from built in cameras, qwerty keyboards and even GPS.
However, where do you turn if you are just looking for a good, old fashioned and reliable mobile – the kinds that allows you to make calls easily and that’s about it.
There are still plenty of quality handsets out there and we can recommend three, those being the Nokia 2610, Nokia 1650 and Samsung J700.
Here is a quick review of each:
Nokia 2610
A cheap and basic model with a colour screen and polyphonic ringtones.
Being from the Nokia family you can feel certain that this is a cracking handset for the price (£15 pay-as-you-go with Orange, £20 with T-Mobile).
It has a superb battery life and has excellent reception.
One slight drawback is that it is only dual band, so cannot be used in America.
Nokia 1650
Again, a star performer from the Nokia family, this is a perfect handset if you just want to make calls.
It has a colour screen, provides 8 hours of talk time from its battery and is easy to use for SMS text messages. Again, only dual band.
A bargain handset with prices as low as £15 with Virgin pay-as-you-go, £20 on Orange and T-Mobile P-A-Y-G.
Samsung J700
If you want a bargain phone which doesn’t necessarily look like a bargain then consider the J700.
This is a slider phone and is better equipped than the two Nokia’s thanks to its 1.3MP camera and web access.
It has an impressive battery life and good reception. A tri-band handset meaning it can be used in America.
Prices start from £45 with Virgin P-A-Y-G, £50 on Orange and T-Mobile.
